There may be men ill this electorate (states a Southern paper) who would sell their birth-right for any mess of pottage that a Minister may offer them; but we believe that a solid majority in this electorate take higher ground than this. In the past, many an electorate has been debauched by Ministerial machinations; hut, in the future, we trust to seo representatives themselves taking a firmer stand, and asserting their own positions and the independent rights and privileges of their own electorates. No self-respecting Parliament can he built up from subservient and time-serving electorates. At Glonelg, South Australia, S. C. Williams was hypnotised by his wife, placed in a box, and lowered into a 6ft. hole in the sand near tlio sea wall.
