Prospecting operations conducted since tho late Company disposed of the mine have disclosed a now reef m virgin country, north oi No. 7 level; of almost phenomenal richness, showing coarse gold freely all over the faco. in splendid track of 4 to 5. feet wide, in very kindly solid country. It is widening .as driven upon, as well as steadily mproving in value, and lias every -n----dication of permanency. The stone is of higher grade than any previously found in the mine, and so far is is known is richer than any hitherto mined on the IVcst Coast. Assays made from trial lots from new leef taken at random across the face, and believed to be fair average samples, have given the remarkable results of fiom £219 to £ll6 per ton at assay department, Bank of Now Zealand, Auckland; whilst parcel of about 56 lbs. similarly taken by Mr. Curtis, mine manager, as fair trial, gave at Reefton School of Mines at- rate ot 970 z. 13dwt. per ton, gold being worth about £4 per oz. The mine is equipped with complete plant of 20 stamp battery, driven by Peltaa wheels, ample water power, and valuable extensive water luces and other necessary rights; air compressors and pipes; miles of rock tunnels to reef in 12 levels; and represents ns it stands a cash outlay of over £50,000. The property lends itself to economical working, having about 1,500 feet of backs level free. The famous' “Tjrconnel,” “Break o’ Day,” and “Little Wonder” claims are ’all included in tho Company's extensive holdings, which total about 170 acres on line and underlie lodes. As a limited number only of shares is reserved for Gisborne, early application is necessary.
