New schools at Kaiti and Matahiwi. nave been opened, the former with an average attendance for the weok of 119. Technical.—Tho tender of W.Ward to erect tho Napior Technical School for £-1366 6s has been accepted. Miss Ivoy has resigned her position as cookery instructor. The Technical Committee recommended as follows: — 1. That Mr C. F. Pointon’s offer to sell a lantern be declined. 2. That Mrs Thomas be informed that the Board regrets that the funds available will not permit the increase of salary asked for, and that she be paid an annual salary ot £I2U, and be allowed the fees from the Napier classes other than school and teacher’s classes. . 3. Mr. Darton proposed that the resolution passed at the Board s meeting ill July with reference to the JNulia'ka school be rescinded, with the object of afterwards moving that a Board school be established at that place. —Carried. . Mr. Barton then moved— that the Education Department be requested to establish a Board school at Nuhaka.” ~ The motion was seconded by i'lr. "Whittington, and carried. Mr. Barton gave notice that at next meeting he would move— That, in the opinion of this Board, it is advisable to place all native schools under the control of the Education Boards.”
