THE HARBOR

AVORK LIKELY TO BE DONE FOR £300,000. Mr. F. AV. Marcliant has written from Timaru to Mr. J. AV. Witty, secretary to the Harbor Board, stating that he hopes to have all plans, etc., of the outer harbor completed this week, or next week. “Tlie whole thing,” ho states, “works out well—better than I expected when at Gisborne. Can give you a harbor of 156 acres, having 77 acres of water from 24ft to 44ft in depth, with large wharf and all complete for £331,000, and I believe it will bo done for £300,000, as I liavo estimated tlie rubble at a very high rate. Lyttelton is only 106 acres, Timaru only 50 acres, and half of that 50 is shallow water only.”
