CHESS CLUB. A meeting was held last evening for the purpose of forming a Chess Club. Mr. Witty occupied the chair. There was a fair attendance. Apologies were received from Messrs. Tombleson, Sheriff, Maliony, Salisbury and Davies, who wore unavoidably absent. It was resolved that a Chess Club be formed to he called the Gisborne Chess Club. A committee, consisting of Messrs. Connell, Blackburn and Walker, was set up to interview the Library Committee re use of a Library room for play, and failing satisfactory arrangements, to find rooms, with full power to act The meeting was adjourned until Friday next, when the office-bearers will be elected and other formal business will bo transacted.
