TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

To the Editor of the Gisborne Times. ' Sir, —-Kindly allow me enough space to make a short reply to Air. Alorgan’s letter in this morning’s Times. Air. Alorgan says there were only nine pupils for woodwork, and Alorgan has the books to refer to, and I have only my memory to fall back on, I will make tlie concession to Air. Alorgan so far as the figures go; anyway, there were some nights when tlio ' attendance was greater than others. That Air. Alorgan was a frequent visitor to the classes I will not deny (but maybe the reason there were no complaints made was the same reason that the patients of the Hospital made no complaints to the visiting Trustees. As for giving the names of those who left —that I cannot do ,as I did not know of more than two in tlio whole class. Some folks have tender feelings and imagine others have the same, and when they have a class, such as the Technical School, they give a diplomatic reason to save hurting feelings. If the woodwork class was such a benefit to the pupils it is hardly likely that an hour’s walk (four miles) would keep them absent. Mr. Alorgan says that when I paid him my fee I told him I was sorry I could not attend any more as I was going into the country. This 1 absolutely deny; if Air. Alorgan looks up his books he will find that I paid him my fee in the beginning of March, and at- that time 1 had not the slightest intention of going into the country, and when I did go into tho country (which was in tlie middle of June), I had left the carpentry class over a month, and made no mention of going into the country to either tlie instructor or Air. Alorgan. In conclusion let me state that my reason in writing to the paper was not to injure the Technical Schools in any way, but merely to draw the attention of the managers to a flaw in the working of the classes. Thanking vou in anticipation, I am, etc., HERBERT INGKAAI.
