RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, last night. The competitions under the auspices of the United Fire Brigades’ Association were resumed to-day in splendid weather, and with a capital attendance. The results are as follows : One-man Manual: First prize £B, second £6, third £4, fourth £2Christchurch (Foreman E. Brough), 3CJ 2-5 sec (including 1 sec. penalty), 1; Timaru (Captain Campbell) 3(3 4-5 sec., 2; Hastings (Fireman W. Graham), 38 3-5 sec., 3; Greymouth (Fireman J. Kenedy), 39 sec. (including penalty 2 sec.), 4. Gisborne, 42 4-5 sec. (1 sec.) ; Temuka, 43 sec. (2 sec.); Najiier, 43 3-5 sec. (1 sec.) ; Ashburton, 45 2-6 sec. (1 sec.); Geraldine, 40 3-5; Dunedin City, 42 2-5 sec.; Hawera, 41 4-5 sec.; and Greymouth, 39 sec. (2 sec.) also competed in the order named. Also started : Kastown Railway, AVestport, Levin, Mastorton, Marton, Petone, Lower Hut't, Kaiapoi, and AA'aipawa. Richmond and Corowa (New South Wales) were disqualified. Five-men Manual: First prize £35, and Speight and Co.’s Challenge shield, second £2O, third £ls, fourth £lo.—Hawera, 44 sec., 1; Tiinaru, 44 3-5 soc., 2; Goro, 47 2-5 sec. (2 sec.), 3; Ashburton,. 47 2-5 sec. (3 sec.), 4; Hastings, 47 4-5 sec. (2 sec.), 5; Groymoutli, 48 2-5 sec., 6; Carterton, 54 2-5 sec., and Christchurch, 48 4-5 sec. (2 sec.) also competed. Also started: Lower Hutt, Spit, Rangiora, Dunedin, Westport, Napier, Hokitika, Masterton, and Potono. Gore and Ashburton having tied for third and fourth places, rail off, Goro winning in 40 2-5 sec. (a record for tho colony), Ashburton repeating its performance, 47 2-5 sec.) Ladder Race, one man: First prizo £B, second £6. third £4, fourth £2. — Napier (A. Peterson), 7 4-5 sec., 1; Greymouth (H. Blockage), 8 sec., 2; Dunedin City (A. Duncan), 8 sec., 3; Hokitika (R. Ross), 8 1-5 sec., 4. There were a large number of competitors in this event, one tie for second and third places, and five for fourth, tho runs off resulting as above. Tho competitions will be continued to-morrow.
