Tho Times’ correspondent reports that members of tho Board of Supervisors of Sun Francisco, in order to save themselves, confessed that each received from the United Railroads £SOOO sterling. Schmitz and Ruef jointly received £BO,OOO for the privilege" of submitting an overhead trolley system for cable lines. Tho Supervisors confessed that other extensive bribes bad been accepted. Tho game of the grafters, the correspondent adds, is now up.

There are other acts of corruption, also ton indictments, against Halsey, formerly tho Pacific States Telephone and Telegraph Coy’s general agent, for bribery.
FIGHT WITH ROBBERS. LONDON, March 21. The Tilnik tribe of robbers in Ccn tral Africa have recently given trouble. A punitive expedition, comprising upwards of two companies of infantry, was despatched in command of Captain Booth, political officer in Bonin. The infantry, showing smart work, closed up’the enemies’ waterlyiles and then gradually stormed the Thinks’ stronghold, consisting of piled-up boulders in crevices and caves, which the enemy concealed. The infantry, who wore padded coats and blankets, were constantly harassed by the discharge of poisoned arrows. The Tibuks’ casualties totalled 300. On tho British side Liouts. Chazter and Thomson were wounded, and eleven infantrymen killed. Forty were wounded.
