I am in favor of a Drainage Scheme. lam also in favor of spending the rates in a more uniform manner over the whole Borough, instead of so much in one or two streets, thereby enhancing the values of a few properties to the detriment of many. Tam in favor of Municipal salt-water Baths. I am also in favor of the' Corporation becoming the owner nf the Gisborne Gas Works, or having works of their own. After these matters have become ac•complishel facts. T think no more borrowing for Municipal works should be allowed for some years to come on any pretext: whatever. I lam ill favor of the Borough being divided into wards. As I am a strong believer in the freedom and secrecy of the ballot box. and that the Ratepayers should be allowed ’to judge for themselves who they think will best serve their interests. T do not intend making any canvass, but leave myself entirely in your hands In elect or reject me as s'*ems best in your own minds. a.nd in either will still ascribe myself, Yours sincerely. lAN SIMSON SIMSON.
MAYORAL ELECTION. TN compliance • will the. expressed wish of a number of Harnesses, ! again offer myself for election fo the office of MAYOR. Briefly stated, my views are Jdm following:—WATER SUPPLY.—I am anxious to see this work completed. It promises to ho a splendid success, anfl I shall deem it ail honor r ) he your Mayor when the work is completed. * With this out of the way other pressing wants must he attended to. narticnlarly that of DRAINAGE. I am strongly of opinion 'that this must follow the introduction of the Water Supply. Gisborne must keep up with the times, and the Drainage question must be faced. With regard to the OUTER HARBOR SCHEME, I am emphatically in favor of this, and if- the uissage of an Enabling Bill in the coming session of Parliament will give the ratepayers an earlier opportunity of voting upon this scheme than otherwise, the Bill will have my hearty support. In asking the Burgesses for a renewal of their confidence in me, I lo with the hope that my actions in the past have given satisfaction to you. I await the Election Day with every confidence. ~'J. TOWNLEY. COMMITTEE.—I shall be pleased to meet with my supporters on THURSDAY EVENING NEXT, at '.30, in the room over Dalrymple’s.
