COUNTESS LOSES HER TITLE AND FORTUNE.
A death-bed romance enacted four years ago came to a tragic conclusion for the heroine in tho law court at Breslau on the evening of March 14th.
One day in the spring of 1903 Count Chainare, a German nobleman, was motoring with Ids friend, FrauIcin' AYandti Blaustoin, an actress, when he sustained mortal injuries by an aciedont. Fraulcin Blaustoin escaped with a slight shock, and. Count Chainare insisted on marrying her as lie lay on his death-bed. Ho then made a will making her ■sole lioness of his immense fortune. He died almost, immediately afterwards, with the Countess Cliamare’s hands clasped in his own.
Count Chamaro’s relatives claimed that tho marriage was void, and the will invalid, and brought an action to prove their contentions. The High Court gave judgment in favor of the young Countess, but the dead Count’s relatives appealed against this decision.
The Court lias now given judgment against tho Countess by declaring tho marriage invalid, and the will null and void. Tho lady, who has boeii regarded as Countess for four years, must now resume her maiden name, and give 'lip the large fortune which she inherited.
She will be obliged to resume the stage as a profession.
