EMIGRATION TO AUSTRALIA.
PROPOSED CONCERTED ACTION Press Association—Copyright. Received May 19, 4.28 p.m. London; May is.
A deputation representing Mr. Kinlcch Cooke’s Central Emigration Board and other emigration agencies, several Agonts : General and Lord Ranfurly, waited on Mr. Peakin'and discussed the advisability of co-oper-ative action.
Mr. Deakip explained that if the States would supply the land and undertake to look after the immigrants on arrival the Commonwealth Government would do the advertising and assist in every way. Other Colonial speakers indicated that Australians in London interested in emigration wished to take advantage of the present favourable juncture to advance the cause.
After discussion the opinion appeared to prevail that it would be better to try to arrange co-operation between the various scattered agencies through the Central Emigration Board.
Ibis intended to invite the AgentsGeneral to assist the Board with advice and information.
