PLOT TO SEIZE AN ISLAND.
The Capetown police have, obtained details of a : Raring filibustering plot against the island of Celebes, in the Dutch East Indies, elaborated and ’directed from Capetown, where the police raided certain premises, and seized a number of documents relating to an organisation which is said to have branches in England, on the Continent, and in America ' and other countries. The scheme was to concentrate
3000 armed advonturors in Colebos and to hold the island by forco while its minerals woro worked. It was intended, howovor, to first demand mineral concessions from tlio Dutch Government, and only to employ force should tho demand bo refused. The documents now in tho hands of tho polico show that tho plot was undoubtedly supported by many woalthy South Africans. Tho authorities aro considering tho question of criminal proceedings ngniust tho ringleaders for formulating such designs against u friendly Powor.
