WELLINGTON, last night
Henry Peacock, an engraver, was to-day committed for trial, on a charge of having committed a criminal offence 'against his 17 year old daughter. Counsel for accused nslced for bail. He stated that the next criminal session did not come until August and it would ho a hardship on accusod to remain in custody until then.
The police opposed tho application, alleging that it would be dangerous for accused to be nt large, as ho had threatened to shoot his daughter if she told her mother abortt his conduct. Tho court refused the application.
The accused was then charged with having in his possession on May'2nd, moulds intending to make a resemblance of both sides of half n sovereign and half a crown respectively. A remand was granted until Friday.
