AVELLINGTON, last night

A conference of delegates from local bodies was held to-day to consider the increase in the district hospital estimates from £9750 in 1906 to £27,000 in 1907. This is an increase of 4 per cent. The number of patients increased by ten per cent. It was decided that the Government be approached and asked tq make the Hospital Trutees directly responsible to the local bodies, that the Government be represented on the Boards of Trustees and that rating be upon a population basis.
