DUNEDIN, last night,
Keen interest has been taken in a competition for special - prizes for cheese, donated by the Otago A. and P. Society, in conjunction with the shipping companies and other supporters this year. The competition was open to Canterbury, Otago, and Southland. Prizes were awarded to workers whose factories’ output for the season gains the highest aggregate number of points, according to a certificate issued by the Government graders from Ist November, 1906, to 31st March, 1907. The result of this year’s competition is as under (maximum points 100): —Waikouaiti D.F., 90.99 points, £ls, Ist; Japarime D.F., 90.95 points, £lO, 2nd; Gore D.F., 90.56 points, £7, 3rd; Mataura D.F., 90.54 points, £3, 4th;- Tutarau D.F. and Edendale D.F., 90.20 points (equal), £3, sth. The conditions in the butter competition are very similar to those in the class for cheese. This year’s competition was open to any factory irl N.Z. The result is as under (maximum points 100) : —Makerau A.D.F., Inglewood, 98. \ja points, £l3, Ist; Moa Farmers’ D.F., Inglewood, 93.55 points, £lO, 2nd; Norsewood D.F., .93.30 points, £7, 3rd; Canterbury Contral D.F., 92.42 points, £5, 4th; South Canterbury D.F., 92.21 points, £3, stli; Piliama D.F:, Opunake, *91.27 points, 6th.
