AUCKLAND POLICE COURT.
MULTIFARIOUS MICROBES. ;i Press Association. AUCKLAND, last night. In the Police Court this afternoon Air. Kettle, fc.M., referred to the visit of inspection of the courLbuildu v n r Purdy, Health Officer. In a letter to Mr. Kettle Dr Purdy suggested -that if the District Engineer did not consider the matter as ; ,i coming within his province, he (Mr. ■ Kettle) should obtain authority to v have his suggestions carried out. DrPurdy also saysi— ‘Whilst making mv inspection I noticed that the Bible used for administering the oath .j ; to witnesses .was not in what one ; might call a very sanitary condition, and would suggest that wasliab e covors be procured, which could be .;•! changed at short intervals. I may state that this has been adopted in the services of magistrates courts in London.” Mr. Kettle in providing this information, remarked that the , building required a thorough overhaul at regular periods. He wished to publicly thank Dr. Purdy for the prompt action he had taken m the matter.
