WANGANUI, Thursday. Webb left; to-day for Wellington, where lie embarks to-morrow iii tlio Maiie'no for Sydney to row Charlie Towns for the sculling championship of the world on August 3. Webb had a most enthusiastic send-olf, a,large crowd gathering at the station. There was a big assemblage at the. Provincial Hotel this morning, where Webb was presented with a purse of sovereigns bv the Mayor oil behalf of the .sculler’s admirers. Eulogistic speeches were made by the Mayor and member for flip district. Webb is accompanied. by! Jils trainer. J. D. Barrett.
