A fine tree growing in one of the paddocks was struck by lightning, and, although of a very hard and knotty nature, the branches and flunk were torn into shreds, and hurled in all directions. Pieces which a man is unable to lift were carried a distance of two chains, while smaller portions were taken fully 200 yards away. Fortunately no live stock were in the vicinity.
