SEWERAGE.
LETTER FROM MR MESTAYER. Regarding the Borough Council’s request for a suoplomentary report on Gisborne sewerage, Mr. R. L. Mestayer, consulting engineer, in a letter to the Council, states:-—“I do not know whether I can give your Council the supplementary report on the sewerage of vour town j without re-visitin'- it. But as I made a very careful, examination of the localities when I was there in 1901, I may possib’ be able to do so, if you can supply me. with the following particulars, together with the plans accompanying mv original report : (a) Plan of additional areas proposed to bo included; in the - scheme, (b) principal levels ,in such areas, especially all the low points,, (c) plan and section, of route'to outfall at Wainui referred to in my original report, (d) sketch plan at outfall, showing principal levels - and high and low -water lines. • All these particulars must bo obtained before,such a supplementary report could be furnished,’whether I re-visited the town or not,-and when I have-them beforo me I can advise you as to whether it would be necessary for me to come over at present: With re ard to the cost of, making this report, I cannot name any definite sqm, but my fees will be at the. same rates-as when I reported boon the matter in 1901; any work that , could - be : . done by my -assistants in the , office would Jbe charged for at the rate of one guinea : pbr day.”’ . . The Borough Engineer was instructed,, at last night’srmeeting, to furnish the required information.
