COOK MEMORIAL.
THE TROOPERS’ NAMES. A meeting of the Patriotic and Cook Memorial Ooihni ittees-was held yesterday morning at the Borough Chambers, the Mayor being in the chair.
Mr. J. G. Cox stated that there was no objection to a few names going on, but qfc things were ,too much space was taken up. The Mayor was surprised that so many actually went from here to the front, but Major McCredie went to great trouble in investigating, and found that the 'names were correct. It was decided that a public meeting for consideration of the question should be held at Townley’s Hall on Tuesday or Wednesday next. Mr. C. A. DeLautour proposed tlfe following motion as to the attitude to be .taken up by the Committee: That the Patriotic Committee, if desired, will cancel the contributed grant of £l5O to the Cook Memorial Fund, and upon the repayment of that amount will take steps under the Patriotic Funds Act, 1903, for dispensing of the same as an “unexpended balance.”
