BOWLING.
The final games of the season were played on the Gisborne Bowling Club’s green yesterday afternoon when Robertson (skip) defeated Ponsford and Witty (skip) defeated Crawford. ‘ the conclusion of the matches the members adjourned t/o the navilion when Mr. Pettie, the acting President, in a short and telling sneecli. after a feeling reference to the loss the Club had sustained by the loss of their late genial President, proposed the toast of ’’Success to the Gisborne Bowling Club,” coupled with ' thc- . names of Messrs. Ponsford, Ambridge and Witty, who shortly responded, and all spoke hopefully of the next season. -The toast of the Committee was replied to by Messrs. Crawford «nd Hennessy. The acting President then forma 11 v.declared the green clos--1 for the season and the gathering dispersed after heartily joinin'-’ in the old refrain of “Auld Lang Sync.”
