TRADE OF THE COLONY.
COMMERCIAL AGENTS TO BE APPOINTED.
STATEMENT BY THE PREMIER
The Premier has received tho following cablegram from the President ot tho Board of Trade (Mr. D. LlovdGeorge): “Your suggestion as to commercial agents in colonies approved by Government and Imperial Parliament, and are now being carried out.” “This,” said the Premier to a Post reporter, ‘is a gratifying rgjmlt of one ot the suggestions made by me at the conference, and I am certain that it will prove of great usefulness to all the British countries where these representatives are appointed It will have the very desirable advantage, from tho point of view of the trade of the colony, that it will bring our people into direct communication with the Board of Trade and in that respect from time to time information regarding the condition of trade in anv- part of the world which the Board of Trade obtains will be available through these commercial agents, and also more reiahie data concerning the possibilities of trade extension i n new ports Commo’ from an absolutely independent and reliable source it will give overv section of our traders an equal opportunity of obtaining information which at times could only be got at \°rv great cost, and it . distinctly s lows that the British Government and the 1 resident of the Board of trad- are anxious to assist in the improvement and development of trade within the Empire.”
