BURNT WITH BENZINE FLAMES.

DUNEDIN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER SERIOUSLY INJURED. Press Association. DUNEDIN, August 12. William Trott, about 30 years of age, electrical engineer, employed at Dunedin railway station, was badly injured this morning as the result of an explosion of benzine. The accident occurred in the electrician’s workshop, a wooden building, formerly used as a signal box. A few minutes after Trott entered the building there was an explosion and loud cries, and Trott, blazing from head to foot, came rushing down the stairs and precipitated himself through a win-dow-sash, where he stuck. He was extricated by a party of "railway employees, and was sent to tho hospital. Trott was terribly disfigured and nearly roasted, but retained consciousness. There was a stove and two tins of benzine in tho room, one of which exploded, covering Trott with the liquid flame. He is a widower with two children, and has"only been in the colony a year. His condition is critical.

The building was not much damaged. Trott had no idea how the explosion occurred. A departmental inquiry is to be held.
