A I'ema rkable effort ended in London on Saturday (says London “Sporting Life” of May 6), when Harry Burton, of Australia, who “tied” with Tom Burrows last January at Olympia (London) in swinging clubs 611 hours, set up a new record of 61 hours 31 minutes. The feat was performed at the Regent’s Theatre, Hacknev-road. Burton began liis task at 9 o’clock oai Thursday morning, and was watched every minute of the time, a number of gentlemen taking it in turns. The worst period was between 2 and 7 on Saturday morning, but. once, over that the Australian was confident of beating tlie record. This he did, finishing in grand style, and could have done a few hours more. He started doing about 200 circles, but slowed down to 128, between which lie kept most of the time. The final quarter of. an hour saw Burton make revolutions round himself at the rate of 360 per minute, and during the last two minutes he accomplished 520. He kept up until 10.31, when having beaten the record by 16min., he was stopped.
