WELLINGTON, August 22. At (die Supreme Court to-dav Patrick Francis Brosnahan and Alfred Crossey were charged with having conspired by deceit to defraud Geo. Martin, Jas. Elliott, Lionel Wallis, and Walter Edward Follett of certain sums of money. They were-found not guilty. INVERCARGILL, August 22. The list of cases for the criminal sitting of the Supremo Court, commencing on Tuesday, is very light. Frank Courts and Martin Campbell will be charged with attempting 1 to dissuade a witness from, giving evidence in a licensing case and Stanley Gill with committing perjury m'aii affiliation case.
DUNEDIN, August. 22. The Supreme Court was occupied all day with the case against Thomas Millar charged with arson. Eighteen witnesses were called for the Crown, and the defence was then entered upon. Accused, in evidence, gave'an emphatic denial to the statement that he had purchased phosphorus at a chemist’s shop at any time. The case was unfinished when the Court rose.
