OTAGO’S EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS.
DEPUTATION TO THE PREMIER. Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 26. A deputation of Otago menjbers of both Houses of Parliament waited on the Premier to-day urging a better room for the Otago Mining School. They asked for £4OOO for new buildings, and that the extra grant of £250 which in recent years had been added to the annual vote of 500 for up-lceep of the school should be continued. Sir Joseph Ward said ho could- not promise that this should bo a permanent vote, but it would be provided this year. As to £40.00 for sa now building the application would bo carefully considered when the Public Works Estimates were being framed. Sir Joseph added that the question of providing a vote for new buildings for the girls’ high school, ‘Dunedin, would be considered when the building grants,for the Education vote were gone into. A report on. tlio present buildings would be presented shortly by Dr. Mason, chief health officer.
