Greece is the poorest of European countries. Her total wealth is only two hundred million pounds, or half that of Switzerland. Switzerland, Portugal, and Denmark are all about equal in point of natural wealth. The Saturday afternoon is the oldest British holiday. It originated in the 11th century, when an edict of King Canute enacted that “every Sunday be kept from Saturday noon to Monday’s dawn.”
