ALLEGED TIMBER RING
INQUIRIES TO BE MADE. (Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, August '2B. Replying to questions to-day, the Premier stated that the Industries and Commerce Committee would be asked to inquire Into the matter of the accuracy or otherwise of the charge made against sawmillers of forming oppressive combinations, charging exorbitant prices, and making excessive jirofits on the sale of timber. The matter of regulating the supply and juice of timber was a difficult one, but inquiries would be made regarding it.
