ACETYLENE GAS EXPLOSION.
YOUNG -A! AN BADLY INJURED. Press Association. GREYAIOUT-H, Sent, 19. V serious explosion occurred at GVbdr-n last evening, -when -a young man nallied Hayes, 16 years of age, was badly injured. It appears he was fixing an acetylene generator for Air. Taylor, who was standing watching, when it exploded. The shed was blown to (pieces, and Hayes was found in the debris, unconscious and bleeding (iiroiiisely. Taylor had ft miracu-lous’esen-po, sustaining only slight injuries. Tho patient is in -a very low state, suffering from shock. CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. Press Association. AVELLINGTON, Sept. 19. The N Z Acetylene Co. states that the accident at Greymoulh was caused by a leak in a home-made generator while testing.
