NEAV SYSTEM STARTS TO-DAY

The Postmaster supplies tlio following information regarding the new multiple swdtcliboard which has been installed at tlie' telephone exchange : 1. Subscriber will ring and then place receiver to the ear and listen. 2. Exchange attendant will answer, “Number, please.” 3. Subscriber will give number.

4. Exchange will "ring up” the required number, subscriber continuing to listen with receiver. 5. When attention obtained subscriber will be in a position to immediately converse. 6. After conversation concluded “ring off.”

7. If tbo number is engaged the attendant replies “engaged.” 8. If the exchange fails to obtain number required tlie subscriber will be so informed.

9. Exchange may deem it necessary to inquire if “still engaged” whilst wire occupied, subscriber will promptly reply “Engaged.” 10. Subscribers are requested to refrain from conversing with exchange attendants beyond giving the necessary instructions for connections. •

11. Complaints from subscribers will be attended to by the officer in charge of the exchange, to whom they should he made, and the exact time should bo stated fti connection wth such matters.
