Tho batch of local Bills passed by tho liouso yesterday were received, road a first time, and roforrod to tho Local Bills Committeo.
Tho Otaki and Porirua Empowering Bill was pu-t through its final stages and passed. COASTAL LIGHTS.
Mr. Macdonald asked the AttorneyGeneral what steps the Government had decided to take in reference to tho erection of additional coastal lights. Dr. Findlay replied that in the Public Works Estimates this year it was intended to make provision for the erection of a new lighthouse and for a. new light at Tuahine Point (Gisborne) to replace that destroyed by firo. GENERAL. Tho Firo Brigades Bill (a consolidating measure embodying portions of existing laws and the amendments included in tlio Bill recently introduced) was road a first time. The Supremo Court Practice and Procedure Bill was put through committee, and reported without material amendment.
The Bills'of Exchange Act Amendment Bill was committed and reported with machinery amendments. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. The House met at 2.30 p.m. LEAVE OP ABSENCE. Four days’ leave of absence was granted to Mr. Hall on the ground of ill-health. NEW BILLS. The Hon. Sir. Millar introduced the following Bills, which were read a first time: Harbor Bill, Sea Fisheries Bill, Scaffolding Inspection Act Amendment Bill, Agricultural Implement Manufacture, Importation and Sale Bill. Workers’ Compensation Bill. The Premier introduced the Gaming and Lotteries Act Amendment Bill, which was read a first time.
