Among tho outward passengers yesterday, was Mr. D. E. Dustin, who is to make a business visit to Palmerston. «ir Robent Stout, Chief Justice, who is to preside at the sitting of the Assessment Court opening today, arrived on Saturday. iHo holies to make a visit later to the native lands in the 55’.iiapu district. Mr. 55k Johnston, Assistant Land Registrar, who is to be married on sVedne.sday at Napier, left lor the South last night, as also did Miss 51-ay Johnston, who is to act as bridesmaid. At the Native Land Court room on Spturda.v Mr. Johnston was presented by the members of the Civil Service in Gisborne with a silver entree dish and a set of sil-ver-mounted carvers in an oak-lined case. Judge Jones, of the Native Land Court, made the presentation, and representiaivcs of all Departments were present.
Inspector Hill and stajor Cmwsliaw, secretary to the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, left yesterday on a visit of inspection .up the coast. Mr. H. E. Hill has, received notification of his appointment as Registrar of Electors.
Mr. Emerson, injured in a jumping. contest at the Show, recovered .sufficiently to enable hii.m to be removed to his home yesterday, where he is making steady progress.
