Press Association. INY ERCARGILL. October 31. fatal accident occurred oil tho Waiau road, near Oupuki, this morning. Alice Colby, aged 18 years, was the victim. She was driving in a milk cart with Mrs. Forde, when the horse shied at a traction engine. The cart capsized and the girl was - pinned to the ground, but Mrs Forde escaped. When picked up the girl was unconscious, and died shortly afterwards. NAPIER, Oct. 31 While crossing a small bridge between the Grange bridge and Clive to-day a traction engine belonging to Messrs Powdrell Bros., Hastings, fell through the bridge, half bury in " itself in water and mud. The lorries loaded with wool, which tho engine was drawing, broke away when the engine disappeared, and the driver escaped with a few bruises. It is a coincidence that the same engine went through the Waitangi bridge last year.
