SUPERANNUATION BILL.
(Special to Times). WELLINGTON, Nov. 16. The Public Service fchiperann,nation Bill inis (been reported from the Public Accounts Gbmmittee with amend,mentis. Permanent militia are to come under tho terms of tho Bill, but no other branch of the defence force. Clause 18 is amended by altering the ago at which a male contributor may retire from 60 to 65 years and of a female contributor from 50 to 55 years. The following proviso in the same clause is substituted for the one in the Bill : “Provided that the Alinister in charge of the .Department in which a contributor is employed may extend the provisions of tills section to any case in which the ago of a male contributor is not less than 60 years or the oge of a female contributor is not less ■than 50 yearn.” Service in Provincial Government is not to be taken as service in tho Government. Clause 29, which prescribes that the widow and children of a contributor who dies while in the Public service shall not be entitled .to a gratuity, is deleted. In regard to the annual Government contribution of £20,000, the following is added, and clause 34 deleted: “Together with such further amount (if any) ns is deemed by the G-overnor-iu-Council in accordance' with the aforesaid report of .the actuary to ’be required to meet the charges ill the fund.” During tho ensuing year a statement of all additional amounts so paid into the funds is to ho laid before Parliament. The Committee recommend that the Bill as amended bo allowed to proceed.
