Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. Nov. 18. At the criminal sessions to-day a youth named Win. Fred Borland was convicted on a charge of breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime, but sentence was deferred until Wednesday. David Llewellyn Moore, who was charged with having discharged a shotgun at bis wife with intent to do grievous bodily harm, was convicted of common assault and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Edward Mills, Joseph Francis Donnelly and Harry Witte were convicted of assaulting and robbing Win. Walton,. of Martinborougli, Wairarapa, during carnival week. Donnelly was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment, and the other two to two years each.

LOVE, MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE

TALES OF DESERTION,

DUNEDIN, Nov. 18.

At the Supreme Court, Margaret Clyma sought a divorce from John Clyina on the grounds of desertion. Petitioner said she married respondent in 1877, and left him in 1898 owing to his persistent cruelty. A decree nisi was granted. Aroma Helen Jefferies was granted b divorce from Charles Jefferies on the ground of desertion. The parties were married at Napier in 1892, and lived together for two years. Respondent had only contributed 15s towards petitioner’s support since 1894.

Robert Kennard applied for a decree against Paulina Kennard on tlie ground of desertion. Petitoner said they were married in IS7B, and lived together until 1895, when respondent went away and refused to return. Tlie case was adjourned for evidence in corroboration of petitioner A statement.
