CRICKED CRICKET ASSOCIATION. Tho usual weekly meeting of the above Association was held at tho British Empire Hotel last evening, Mr. R. IV. Cary presiding. .... Mr. AV. Torkington forwarded Ins resignation as groundsman, as lie was leaving the district for Auckland, and Mr. B. C. Baxter was unanimously elected to the position. Tho Tokomaru Club suggested .December 16th, 17th, and IStli, as dates for their team’s matches at Gisborne, and consideration of the matter was held over until next meeting. A protest was received by the Tarulieru Club against United claiming last Saturday’s match, on tho grounds that play extended beyond the fixed timo for drawing stumps, 6 o’clock. It was decided to ask the umpires, Lieutenant-Colonel Winter anil Mr. Mawhinney, to attend or furnish in writing evidence on tho facts in dispute at next meeting. It was decided to appoint a selection committee for tho season in view of the approaching visits from Motu, Tokomlaru Bay, and the Hawke s Bay representative elevens. After a baillot, Messrs R. AV. Cary, AV Gibson, R. G. Hallamore, 1- McColl, and K. Thelwall were elected.

The wicket, aftei Saturday’s rain, was soft, but quickly improved under tlio influence ot .the sun and breeze. The home team treated the visitors to a day of lea-ther-hunting. Tarrant and Ronsfoird treated the bowlers with more freedom, Tarrant especially playing a lively <mme. The Englishmen did not shine in the field, dropping seve--11 chances.
