TWO APPEALS FOR LIBERTY. IN relation to the drink question much is said about tlio “.liberty of Iho subject”; but remember that on the polling day two classes will anpeal to you lor liberty—THE STRONG AND THE WEAK. The strong, who are rolling in wealth and living in luxury, will ho asking you for perpetual liberty to carry on a trade that all admit is a curse; and tho weak will appeal to you for liberty —liborty to live under tho best conditions'of life. The poor drunkard, in his weakness, will ask you for liberty to live “righteously and soberly” air his days. The wifehood and motherhood of this country will appeal to you for liberty—liberty to supply the needs of those she loves, and liborty to have a homo instead of a hovel. And tlie» dear children, ragged, starved, stunted, and noglectcd, will appeal to you with all tho ~athos of helplessness for liberty—LlßEßTY TO GROW, TO BE FED, TO BE HAPPY,AND TO HAVE A CHANCE IN LIFE. All those,. and others, comprising the great army of tlic weak, will, with beseeching glance and united voice, appeal to you for liberty. To which demand are you going to accede—to the cry of the strong for liborty to make money out of that which enslaves, impoverishes, and destroys their victims, or to the piteous appeal of tho weak to bo delivered out of their clutches, and to onioy the luxury of freedom?
