A cable message states that Air. Keii’s Hardie has arrived at Fremantle.
•Mr AA’illiam Adair, who has been on a visit- to England, is expected to arrive back oil Saturday. Air Harry Reed and Airs Reed arrive back from their trip to England next week. Miss AlcAr.tkiiiv late of Tim aril, who has been appointed nursing sister at the Hospital, arrives from south this anoruing. Air J. E. Flood leaves for Auckland this morning on a tour dm the north, for the benefit of his health. Air. H. H. DeCosta, who has been on a short visit to Auckland, returns this morning. Sir J. AVard and Lady AA’ard, with some members of their family (wired our AA’ellington eorresxiondent yesterday), will in all probability spend their Christmas holidays at Stewart Island.
Air. AlcGowan will spend the holidays in his electorate. Air. Fowlds will return to Auckland, and Air. Millar to Dunedin.
Thero is no change to record in the condition of Air. J. Cannon, whoso sxiinewas recently badly injured in an accident at Tolaga. Air.. Duncan Cumming, Controller of tho Aloney Order and Savings Bank, who is retiring on a pension, joined tlio Treasury Department in 1869. In 1574 (states our AA’ellington eorresxiondent) lie was transferred to the Tost and Telegraph as money order clei'k in tho G.P.O. at Christchurch, and eight years later was transferred to a similar xiosfc in Auckland, but in 1884 he returned to Christchurch. Eventually he Avas axiXiointed sub-inspector of post offices in tho Auckland and Thames district. In 1900 he becamo Chief Postmaster at Napier, and took ux> similar duties in AA’ellington in 1903, but jn October of the same year was transferred to a similar post in Auckland. On January of this year he was aiiiiointed insxiector of x>ost offices, AVellington, and on July Ist succeeded Air. AV. R. Alorris as Controller of Aloney Orders and Savings Banks and accountant. He will cease duty oil December 31st, and it is xirobablo that he will take up his residenco in Auckland.
