AUCKLAND, Nov. 26. AYiriliana To Kapa Teno 'J * Itangi, tlio principal Maori chief of tho 'Jo Akau block, died at Kawa on Saturday. aged 73 years. He was well known to tho Maoris throughout tlio Dominion, as one of their most noted chiefs, and it was mainly by bis advice that Malmta agreed to take a seat in tho Legislative Council. During tho AVaikato war Teao To Dang} threw in his lot with tho Palcelia, and oil different occasions helped tlio Queen’s soldiers. Ho was a genial old veteran, and in his later years was a. member of the AYaikato Land Council. A largo tangi is being lield at Kawa.
