The 'U.S.'S. Co.’s Squall _ arrived in the bay on Monday evehing, but owing tortile heavy swell in the liver was unable to get alongside until early yesterday morning. Discharging "operations were concluded on- the town side about S p.m., when the vessel warped over to the other side to discharge timber for itlio Harbor Board and material- for itho freezing works, drier general cargo consisted' of 1170 tons, and included a large quantity of kerosene. The Empreaa completed ballasting yesterday, and after taking in water this morning wil leave about noon lor AVhaiigarei. The U.S.S. Co.’s Haupiri is at present working tlie coast, and is expected in Gisborne at the end of next week. The s.s. Toroa will not be back in Gisborne for some time, as she takes a load of timber from Akitio to Lyttelton. the .Manuka arrives from Auckland this afternoon, and sails for the South later in the evening. Piasiseugeis will leave the wharf per the Tuatea at 7 p.m. The AVaikare arrives from South this morning, and sails for Auckland at 10 a.m. The Tuatea will leave the wharf at 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. . ... Tho schooner Awanui arrived in •the bay on Monday at midnight, and was ' got alongside yesterday morning. . tehe left Auckland on Tuesday, and was off AVaipiro on Sunday, where she sighted the three scows that left here last week. Since her last trip here the Awanui has undergone a complete overhaul, and practically presents the appearance of a new boat, having been resheathed overhaul with toiara. She carried 23,000 ft of timber (800074 of which was landed at AVhangara), also a quantity of coal, lime, and cement. line vessel will now re-enter •the timber trade to this port.
