OUTER HARBOR COM MM ITTEE

A meeting of the Outer Harbor Committee was bold in Itlie Farmer* Club rooms Hast evening. There were present:—Messrs. W. L. Keen (chairman), W. Lissant ■Clayton, I. Ailair, and Webb. An apology for absence was received from Mr. Matthews. 'Air. Clayton read a statement oi accounts, which showed the expend'.turo to liavo ibecii £25 173 9d, whilst amounts received 'and promised totalled £24 2s. The Chairman said that the work for which the Committee was brought into existence had been achieved, now that the -Harbor Bill was passed, and he thought they had reason to congratulate themselves on the result. At first they had been laughed at, and people said there was no chance of the Bill passing, hut they bad stuck to their sel-f-din-posed task till success had come. Now there was nothing to be done until Messrs. Coodo and Sons’ report came to band. When it did they would watch the progress of affairs, and if necessary take further action to further the Harbor project. Mr. dices said there was no doubt .the public meeting which had been held and the forwarding of such i largely-signed petition in favor < f the Bilf had .greatly strengthened the Hon. Air. Carroll’s hands in gc ding the measure through. After some further discussion a resolution was carried thanking Mr. Carroll for his judgment and perseverance in piloting the Bill through the House, after which the Committee 'adjourned sine die.
