Air. AV. Adaiir, who Iras been oil a tnip .to the Old Country, (arrives back tikis morning. Air. C. iP. Davies, accountant for Messrs Williams and Kettle, to-efay retires from (the -firm’s employ, after IGJ years’ service. This morning Air and Airs Z-acha-riah -arrive -from the South. Airs Zacha-riah, -has (been spending a holiday in Christchurch. Sir Robert Stout, C.J., and Air. A. T. 'Nga-tu, AI.H.R., arrive from south 'this -morning -for the purpose of holding sittings of the Native La'nd Corn-mission in the district. Air. A. Donald, local representative of tho Labor Department, arrives from Napier this morning, having gone down to bring up Airs. Donald and tho family. Mr. A. Al. Pickford, lately secretary of tho City -Band, leaves This morning -for Auckland, where lie is to go into 'business with his father.
The Rev. IC. Griffin arrives this morning from Napier, where he has been attending .the sitting of the Alethodist -Synod. AH. R. 4V? Kyrne, local manager for Messrs. Alacky, Logan, -and Co., leaves for Auckland this -morning. Air. Prank -Harris, of the Albion Hotel, -lias been confined to his bed for a few days, the symptoms -pointing to ptomaine poisoning. Last night he was reported to be rather hotter.
Air. J. Cannon passed a good night last night, but there is no change to report in his general condition. To-morrow Dr. De Clive Lowe arrives from Auckland to make tin examination of him with a Rantgen rav apparatus. Air. Siainsbury, of Alessrs. Blair and Sainsbury, returns this morning from a short business trip -to Napier. Air. I<\ Crespin, representative of Alessrs. Smeeton and Co., .the wellknown -Auckland firm of -produce -merchants, -lias just returned from an extensive trip 1171 the coast, as far as To Aroha. Air. Crespin covered nearly 2-30 -miles on horseback during his trip, which jie states has been an exceedingly successful one. He was delighted with the appearance oi the country and its business prospects, but. is unable to speak ,as highly either of the roads or the accommodation -for travellers.
