BOWLING

On the Turaugiuiui Club’s green yesterday the two teams chosen to represent tlio Club at' Auckland played a trial match, Gandhi’s rink beating Martin's by 17 points to 15. The teams play another match tomorrow. GISBORNE CLUB. A committee mooting of tho Gisborne Bowling Club was held last night, ALr. \Y. IVttio, President, in the chair. The principal business was to receive the resignation of Air. 11. E. Dodd, secretary. The President, having read the sumo, he voiced the feelings of both committee and members in stating that the loss of Air. Dodd’s services would be very keenly felt, the secretary having during liis term of office proved himself a very capable officer. At the same time the President, congratulated him on liis well-earned promotion. Several members of tlio committee expressed themselves in similar terms. It was resolved that tho resignation be accepted with regret, and a record placed on the minutes to that effect, also that a letter covering the resolution be forwarded to Air. Dodd on behalf of the club.

Air. Ambridgo was elected to fill tlio vacancy’, lio having consented to act in that capacity during the balance of the year. It was decided to close entries for the Handicap Singles on Thursday next. It was reported that other competitions were progressing satisfactorily, in addition to several practice matches having been played during the week by tlie rep. teams. Tlio hope was expressed that on Thursday next and successive playing days members would muster to give the “reps.” a series of good practice games, and thus aid their preparation for the Auckland tournament. The teams will leave for the North on January 4th.
