PERSONAL.

Mr. AV. D. S. MacDonald, although sufficiently well to attend the Te Tvaraka- races yesterday in his official capacity of judge, is still feeling the effects of liis recent accident while mustering on liis property at Rakauroa.

On Tuesday Mr. John A. Cannon, who met with a serious accident at Tolaga some time ago, died at Mrs. Harney’s private hospital. The funeral will leave Mr. Rowland Hill’s residence, Cobden-street, at 2.30 o’clock this afternoon.

Mr. AV. T. Neill, of the Survey Department, left last evening by the Zealandia for Dunedin.

Mr. Frank Patiillo, manager of Rangitira. station, accompanied by Mrs. iPatullo, intends leaving in about a month’s time for a twelve months’ trip 'Home. Mr. J. M. Hussey, tho well-known Auckland cricketer, arrived in Gisborne from the South by the Monowai yesterday morning, and intends remaining hero until Saturday next. Mr. Hussey was a member of the Auckland eleven which so brilliantly wrested the Plunket shield from Canterbury a short time ago. After the match Mr. Hussey went on to Dunedin for a few days, returning to Masterton for the Christmas holidays. His many friends in Gisborne will bo pleased to learn that cricket is not the only field in which Mr. Hussey can -distinguish himself, as he has passed liis final examinations as barrister and solicitor, and rumor has it that lie intends to shortly resign his position in H.M. Customs to take up law.

Mr. George Hutchison, ex-M.H.R. for Patea, is at present in Gisborne on a brief holiday visit, and was present at T© Ivaraka races yesterday.
