James Alulealiy Sheridan was charged on .remand, at the police court this mornyig, before Air. AV. J. RkF dell, S.AI., with the murder of John Wiliam AlcNally, at Wellington, on 3rd January. Air. Myers prosecuted <m behalf of tho police, and- accused was defended by Mr. Gray. After evidence had been taken bearin'- out the circumstances telegraphed at the time of the occurrence, Air. Gray submitted that this was not a caso for committal, as there was no probability or possibility on the evidence of accused being convicted by a jury of the offenco with which ho was charged, or of any other offence. Air. Myers said the question that the Court had to determine was whether a prim a- facie case had been made out. It might bo that when the case came before a higher Court- the indictment would be laid in a different form. Accused was committed l for trial, and bail was allowed as formerly.
