PALMERSTON N.,- Jan. 18. An extraordinary situation has occurred in the Palmerston Borough Council, owing to the Mayor (Mr. R. Essen) refusing to accept a resolution proposed by Cr. Hnydon, on the ground that it reflected on the 'Mayor. The meeting held last Tuesday -closed with affairs at a deadlock, and vesterday tlio Pina nee Conimittco refused to sit, and no money was passed for payment , with the result tin it •all the Borough employees have received no wages. ‘ The Mayor addressed the employees, explaining the situation, ami it is hoped that alfairs will right themselves at a special meeting called for Tuesday next.
