THE PALMERSTON DEADLOCK.

A SETTLEMENT ARRIVED AT. Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Jan. 21. The deadlock in the Borough Council that has caused considerable comment in this district was ended at the meeting to-night. The position arose through the Mayor refusing to accept a. motion to rescind a. former resolution in reference to the appointment of a- public works committee. The .councillors protested by refusing to attend an important- committee meeting, and municipal business was at a standstill. Tonight the Mayor put the motion under protest; and it was carried;, his being the only dissenting vote. Business has now resumed its normal course. The Mayor will address a public meeting in reference to the master.
