AVAIROA RACES. The AY a iron R.C. held their first day’s racing yesterday. The weather was fine, with a strong southerly wind blowing. The attendance was good and tho course in excellent condition.
The following are the results:— Alaiden Scurry: Mistletoe 1, 'lVaiar.iki 2, Tapuko 3. Scratched: Eighteen Carat, and Alaiiguone. IVon by a length and a hall. County Stakes Hack Handicap. Crackpot 1, Commander 2, Melton Hiill 3. Also started: — Banker, tVater-o’-Alilk, To AYiwini. Led all tho way. Telephono Hack Handicap: Cantata I, Ladv Grespin 2, Mura Alii 3. Also started : Martyr King. Led the whole distance. Tv uron J lack Handicap. Lady Grespin 1, Sarilla 2, Tiki 3. Also started Sandstone and AYhaiigamoana. Led all the AVay. Maiden Plate:—Formidable, 1, Glen ■Vt'ric 2, Peep-o : -Dav 3. Also started ;—Nerii-ssa and Creeping Jane. AY oil by half a length. Frasertowu Hack Handicap.—Earmark I. Creeping Jane 2, Turqucto; also ran Formidable and Nerissa. Led all the way.
