Tho llcv Air. AVard, who relieves tho Rev. M. Butterfield at AA'aerenga-a-liika arrives this morning, and tho ltev. H. T. .Purchas, of New Brighton, also arrives by the Victoria this morning on a holiday visit. Tuesday’s AA T ellington Post says : Dr Chappie, of 'Wellington, who lias been accompanying tlfio lion. it. M‘Nab on his East- Coast tour, is at once returning to AATellington on account of the serious illness of liis mother. Inquiry at tho Hospital at a late hour last night elicited the information that Air. AV. Hackett, who is at present- suffering from an attack of typhoid fever, was showing signs of improvement.
Aliss Fleming and Afessrs Tom Dairy mple and H. Piper who have been with Airs. Howie’s concert party returned to town last night. They gavo concerts at Alorero on Saturday night and at AA’airoa on Alonday night, both being very successful. Airs. Howio stayed at- AYairoa, but will return to Gisborne next week, and will probably give a farewell concert here shortly before leaving for Australia.
