A GREAT SUCCESS.

WAIROA, Jan. 26. Magnificent weather favored tho Wairoa District Show. There was a largo attendance, estimated at 2000. Visitors attended from all parts oi the Dominion, including Mr. J. A. Gil .uth, chief veterinarian, Mr. JL M. Ross (Stock Department), and Mr. A. L. D. Fraser, M.H.R. There were record .entries, and. a great improvement in stock all round was shown, especially in the sheep and the hacks. The judges were loud in their praise of the Tady riders, and said tiiat the horses were tho host lot of horses to he found in the North Island. Mr. Jefferson won Mr. Moeller’s Cup with a total of 114 points, with Mr. Vaughan second with 97 points. T. Powdrell won the prize for the champion Shorthorn bull, and Mr. Vaughan that for the champion Shorthorn cow. Mr. T. F. Walker won the championship for lox terriers. Mr. Walker also secured three firsts ill Herefords. The following are other results: Gentlemen driving, G. Sherriff; maiden hunters, F. 13. Donnelly; ladi-es’ hunters, H. T. Car.lyou; leaping (steeplechase), Miss Dennis to li and P. Doyle; pony leaping, J. McKay; hunters, F. B. Donnelly; walking horse, Motor Co. The show was a great financial success all round. A great feature was the number and quality of locally-built vehicles, equal to anything the cities can turn out.
